It is important for Clean Air, share your voice with leaders!

Jan 24, 2017

Please take a moment as a concerned citizen, an AirKeeper, a Clean Air Carolina member, to tell the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization that the Metropolitan Transportation Plan for the city needs to protect the air we breathe.

The public outreach period for the 2045 MTP runs from January 16th through February 10th, and CRTPO is kicking it off with a series of public information opportunities geared toward engaging residents in the process and helping them learn more about transportation planning efforts in our region. The following initiatives are now active and are helping us reach those goals.

New Web Site
A web site dedicated to the 2045 MTP has been created, at It serves as a central location for the flow of new information that is rolling out, particularly during the early part of 2017, as well as throughout the year.

Web Site Features

  • Survey
Members of the public can provide detailed feedback by participating in the survey. They can also do so by contacting CRTPO staff directly at [email protected] or (704) 336-2205.
  • Map application
Users can launch the Interactive Priority Projects Map and add their ideas by plotting projects onto it and leaving general comments, as well. The survey and map application are available through February 10th.

  • Video
The MTP web site now features a video that provides an overview of the MTP process and also summarizes CRTPO’s role in setting transportation priorities and planning various project phases.

Social Media
CRTPO continues to utilize the program’s main web site,, as well as their Facebook page,, and a new Twitter account,, to reach a wider audience.

A webinar is scheduled for January 19th, and one was held on January 12th, to provide an overview of the MTP planning process and answer questions. Log-in and call-in information is found on the 2045 MTP site and CRTPO’s Facebook page.

Toll-Free Hotline
Outreach to non-English speaking individuals is being facilitated through a toll-free hotline, 844-594-6462, which offers instructions in nine languages and allows callers to leave their feedback as a message. This hotline is being advertised in the applicable languages on a large-format poster that will be displayed in libraries, town halls, college campuses, and other public spaces.

Public Events
CRTPO staff will also be available at a number of public events throughout the year to receive input and provide information on the MTP and other phases of the transportation planning process. Events will be posted on the web site and on social media as they are scheduled.

Can input be provided after the public outreach period?
CRTPO always encourages public input and welcomes it throughout the development of the 2045 MTP. Opportunities to weigh in on the MTP process will be provided throughout the year.
Can I host an event or recommend an outreach opportunity?

If your municipality, community organization, or business association could benefit from a presentation or a staffed informational table at an event, let us know.

Your collaboration in spreading the word and encouraging participation is vital to the success of the 2045 MTP planning process!
