Funds Available to Retrofit Construction Equipment

The NC Division of Air Quality (NCDAQ) is currently having a second call for applications for their LEADER program.
In October 2008, NCDAQ was awarded a Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA) Grant by the US Environmental Protection Agency. These funds were used to establish the NC Clean Construction Leading to Early Adoption of Diesel Emission Reductions (LEADER) Program which currently has nearly $125,000 available to be awarded for grants.
Under this program you can apply for a grant to cover 100% of the cost of the retrofit device, installation, delivery charges, and sales tax.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be Non-road construction equipment
- Must have an engine that is 25 horsepower or greater
- The equipment must operate at least 70% of the time in North Carolina over the next 3 years
- Retrofit Technology must be either EPA or CARB verified
